I’ve got an older Trek 2200 SL I just pulled out of storage that I was planning on getting ready to sell (replace worn bike pads, clean up the chain & gears etc). It has a carbon fork with quite a few scratches and paint peeling off, particularly at the drop outs. The bottom bracket paint is also peeling. Covers on brake levers are broken or missing – I think this was rough handling from a move… There’s not much I would need to spend to get it ready if all I have to do is replace the brake pads, but I’m wondering if I should be concerned about the fork at all. I don’t want to invest in parts for it if I’m ultimately going to have to recycle it and don’t want to pass it on if there are any legit safety concerns… Thoughts?

I think it drops the value a bit ofc, but as long as the scratching on the fork is just surface level and doesn’t go more than a mm or 2 into the carbon then it’s still a great ride!
