if you could make the perfect electric motorcycle what would be on your list here’s what mine would be I’d want it to be made in the USA because I mean We’re Dreaming here why not under the $10,000 price point the more it is the better I would want it to be Highway capable I’d want it of course to have some really good looks and not look too weird or futuristic it’s okay if it looks electric but it needs to have an aesthetic that kind of appeals to a lot of people now removable batteries I think would really be a big plus and something people would really want and then range I would want it to be at least 100 Mil now that sounds like a big ask to put all of that into one motorcycle but that’s exactly what land energy has done so if you check out their website land Moto you can find two variations of the same bike the land district there is a Scrambler version with off-road beefy tires and then there is a street version and I first got to see these in person late last year at the micro Mobility conference now we were able to do a little test ride there kind of up and down the street at the event but we didn’t really get to take them out on the road and the other thing I really really wanted to see is some actual numbers on my dyo in 3 2 1 so the guys from Land were kind enough to come by my place actually bring two of the bikes let me put them both on the DME and take them out for an extended ride see what these things really can do pop it up in three I think three sounds like a good amount of power so three is three is motorcycle full power though but yeah this is motorcycle mode yeah so we got full horsepower but there’s more torque than this if we wanted later but we’re on a back road so take it [Music] easy that’s right that’s not full power wooo yeah yeah so when I do a lot of my ebike videos I come to this really Steep Hill to see how much bikes slow down over the top of it um this isn’t going to slow down at alloo we can accelerate like a rocket up the [Music] hill that is so fun it’s it’s amazing like the feel of just just the acceleration and it’s not a lot of sound it’s just pure like just hole you definitely got more torque creep way yeah I’m in four all right 3 2 1 I got the acceleration but he’s got the top speed there you go [Music] you can go [Music] ahead having fun so what what’s your thoughts right now what are you what are you thinking um now I have owned gas guzzling four cylinder screaming motorcycles in the past and as much as I really like them I’ve already decided that if I ever get another one of course it’s going to be electric and I have been paying attention to the market on electric motorcycles for several years just have to be 100% straightforward with you right now land is my top choice now it wasn’t when I saw it at the micr mobility conference last year and the reason was the exact specification I would want at that point in time was inching a little bit closer to about 12 ,000 remember I said I wanted something under 10 I feel like that’s kind of where a good price point would be so when I saw that they recently lowered their prices they start at $69.95 and go up from there but still stay under the $10,000 price even with the largest of batteries this is really really tempting and of course what’s more impressive than the price is where they are made they are in fact made in the USA in Cleveland Ohio this is not vaporware this is not some concept these motorcycles are 100% real they are building them right now they are shipping them to customers right now you can test ride them you can buy them and they legitimately do everything I really wanted it just moves I mean smooth it’s smooth it’s quick like it’s just it’s fast enough that like I don’t I don’t need to go any faster acceleration wise yeah this one does have the lower gearing M and if I was really going to do like a lot of Highway stuff on occasion yeah I’d want the higher gearing right cuz uh I can accelerate you but then I but then you pull you you pull away and you can you can move past me so probably just depends on the kind of riding like this road with like 45 mph this is more than enough it does 55 and then that’s about where it tops out with this gearing whereas that one they say it does 70 I like it handles nice smooth nice handling it’s it’s not scary but as out of the gate man it’s impressive it is very impressive I like the way that bike looks better yeah but I like I like how this Handles in the turns really nice yep yep that’s a hard decision to make it is same Wheels though so yeah can always change tires yep we can confirmed on our test ride that they can in fact go over 70 M [Music] hour now they have two separate gearing options the bikes that they brought to us were set up different one of them had the Scrambler tires so those are the big off-road tires and it used a higher gearing which means that it could achieve those High 70 mph plus speeds we didn’t go to the actual top speed but Blake said he hit 71 and there was still a little bit more to go and then the street bike we were testing had of course the street tires and was using the lower gearing so that means it’s going to have more torque but a lower topend speed from our testing it topped out about 55 M an hour so it kind of just depends on where you’re going to ride the bike how you’re going to use it which Tire Choice makes the most sense as well as which gearing setup makes the most sense now if you’re concerned about torque uh you you don’t really need to be both of these performed extremely [Music] well at me yeah it does that to remind you that it’s on so you don’t forget since it’s quiet yeah all right let’s uh give this thing a nice easy run up in level one and see what it’s got so this is what’s the top speed in one uh it should be about 27 M hour 27 mil hour and do we have any any idea how much power no I don’t I’ll find out we have no idea okay so power in kilowatt far left side of the screen torque in foot pounds is the middle and then uh the speed is in the the right hand side in three two one [Music] so like 400 watts and 17 ft-lbs of torque that is not very much that’s the idea but that makes it like less power than every single ebike that I’ve ever put on board in mode one let’s go to two manual start uh then yeah man you’ll start 3 two 1 it’s not the most powerful thing I’ve ever put on the dyo but it’s more power than any ebike I’ve ever put on the dyo so the most powerful ebike we put on was the LMX 64 which is still here that one is like 2500 watts and 65 footb M and this is basically yeah way more torque and that LMX ripped like all right but that’s only level two we got we’re only halfway there and I have a feeling the power is going to increase yeah go ahead and exit and then do a save and restart again I have a feeling the power increases are going to be exponential all right so this is level three one two three okay almost 100 180 foot- PBS wow that was that’s impressive so 14,000 Watts but the the torque is that’s a lot of torque um the torque just comes on faster I think in mode four so that was that was a little bit more of a gentle application yeah all right that’s level four in three two one [Music] and people say uh electric bikes don’t make noise that thing screams yeah so 14,000 WTS to the ground and but yeah the torque is 27 that’s wild that that explains why this thing takes off so fast yeah and you’ll see when you ride it on the street later it’s still pretty well behaved even with all that torque yeah now the other bike with the smaller sprocket will uh the front wheel will come up on it for sure yeah I I don’t like to give labels to the ride modes you they’re just two three four and in California a moped Max is like 4,000 watts if it’s electric so mode two is uh moped powerwise go go right for it and see what it does this will be fun traction should be good on these tires all right in three two one tire s let got torque it’s got more torque let’s try that [Music] again 295 wow 295 I that more than I thought we did of course achieve the best torque and power numbers on the street bike with that lower gearing we got 295 ft-lb of torque which is just absolutely insane that is the first time I’ve ever had something on my dyo where I struggled a little bit for traction might be funny to hop on the bike path yeah you want to do that just to show it ebike mode bike path yeah I’m going to turn it to one which is ebike mode which was only like it was like less than 500 watts yeah I’m so pop over here look at this oh going from the other from four to one is so but you know this is Full Throttle you’re like yeah it’s so good that you can get a new Rider on something and graduate into a real motorcycle from speeds like this I feel pretty much anybody that has a little bit of balance could do this if you can ride a bicycle and you can twist a throttle in ebike mode anybody can hop on this and Rite it it really is very very simple the power is very very tame you could put someone on this who has never ridden a motorcycle before and they can comfortably ride it okay I’ve had enough of that ready to get back on the [Music] road to thank land again for swinging by Area 13 coming all the way out here with two motorcycles for us to just basically ride and have some fun on now I know that they want you to be able to test ride these as well so I would like to hear your feedback like kind of know where my mind is at right now but would you like to come into Area 13 and have us be a test ride location for the land District so definitely leave me a comment if you’d like to come to Grass Valley and not only check out all of our ebikes but test things like the land Moto as well it is very very fun very addictive and I think if you try it you’re going to be hooked oh [Music]

  1. I've always wanted to build a bike like that, but a lot of work and trials. It is totally badass and looks like fun. I guess you need to license it in CA. I just went to your store yesterday. What a place! Loved seeing all the bikes you have. Will be back. I hope your health is better. The road back from G.B. is a long one. I hope to meet you sometime. I love e-bikes. Been following you for a while. Great stuff, keep it up.

  2. I’m a bigger guy at 6’4 about 315. I was looking for their rider weight limit on the website but didn’t see anything. This looks like a great commute to work option for me.

  3. I have the street version with the higher gearing and it’s super fun! I keep it in mode 4 pretty much at all times and launch at stop lights and stop signs just about every time as well lol can’t help it

  4. Too heavy at 230 pounds and the frame too close to the ground. If you lean too far to turn you when are on the street you will hit the frame by just leaning over . Of road horrible clearance and body hits everything.

  5. I heard in the last year, the battery on an electric motorcycle lasts about an hour at highway speeds. They have to be improving on this number, increasing the range, if they want to sell more, yes ?

  6. Great review but there is no way that will pass on a bike path or trail. You’ll have everyone calling the 👮‍♀️ on you. The Surron has the same problem but half the look of a cycle. What is the N.m on the 295 ft lb via the dyno? Great looking bike I might be interested

  7. Awesome explanation of the feeling of riding the bike. That pull off the line is something that is addicting! Love mine! Gotta get these in your shop for test rides. This is what all the guys modding their ebikes are trying to achieve. There are no upgrades needed on this bike and it comes with a warranty. Just sayin

  8. What version would you recommend of the District if you wanted one of these for commuting but did want to take if off road on the weekends. Would the scrambler with its different gear ration and lower top speed feel to limited for daily driving? For daily use though would probably only hit the highways for brief stints.

  9. The little Honda XR150L is only $3,000 and gets like 75 mpg. It can go 60 mph and on or off road. How about a Yamaha XT250 ? 70 mph and cheap .. On and on off road. I'm not convinced on electric for now. But still watching.😁

  10. Epic video. The Land’s on my short, short list.

The Spark Javelin & Brut, possibly a Huck or Surron Storm Bee…Stark Varg, Harley, BMW are larger & suitable e-moto options as well.

  11. Land is cool but there's something "meh" about them. They do have a clean look though. They've received alot of funding over the years to keep their business floating so hopefully they put their money into an ebike design or something else to try and capture more sales.

  12. Hey… My Land District package came with 2 yellow and 2 red reflectors stickers… Anyone using these? I'm a 1st time rider, so I put the yellows vertically on each side of my battery "bucket"… Might not look the "cleanest" any longer now, but get a little peace of mind when riding at night… O and put one of the reds horizontally on the back of the battery bucket. Any thoughts? These are 3M stickers, wonder how easy to take off if I change my mind🤔

  13. Am planning to get either the District Street (higher gearing) or Ryvid Anthem for commuting and other on-road-only travel around town. Rarely, if ever, do I expect to hit the highway, but nice to know I can in a pinch for a few miles. So if you were to choose one of those two bikes, as they're about the same money but radically different pros and cons, which do you think would be the smarter buy?
