Trying to get more into repairing my own bikes, and this front brake is causing me trouble. The click is quite loud and feels connected to why the brakes aren't biting, but I can't figure out what the source is. I am about to replace the brake pads with fresh ones, could it be related to the pads being worn down?
Cable disc brake clicks when squeezed, brakes not fully activating. What could be the issue?

The brake caliper is broken. The “pop” you hear is the piston failing. As you add more load with the lever pull, the piston reaches a breaking point and slips back into the caliper instead of applying pressure to your rotor.
I see it on cheaper mechanical disc brake systems.
Replace it with a compatible Shimano caliper (~$30).
Basically impossible to diagnose wbased on this video since w ecannot see what is happening.
