This may be a shot in the dark, but I haven't found any reference to this mod. Would anyone know if these two are compatible options as they seem like a dream team for mix road/trail bikepacking. Are flat or alt bars even suitable for a Kona Sutra?

Others may disagree, but in my personal experience, Koga Denham bars work best on drop bar bikes with short reach, high stack, and slightly slack fork angle. The Sutra fits that. The Denham bars give the benefits of wide/swsept bars as well as riding in the hoods. It’s a match made in heaven.
Of course, that does not account for differences in personal preferences, so your experience may differ. I’ll be curious to see what you think.
Use whatbars.com to see the difference in reach. Probably have to use a standardish drop bar to overlay.
