I had the fellas at the local bike shop build this up on a thirty year old Gary Fisher frame. Another local company sandblasted and painted the frame. It’s my first 1x. I’m not sure I’m sold on it yet. More than one person said I should leave it stealth, it reduces the risk of theft. Anyone else with this opinion?

I dunno, if you live in a theft prone area, people will steal anything. More locks is the answer.
If you live somewhere quiet, a cable lock will do.
Just get a good lock. Also see if there’s a registration program in your area. Sometimes a sticker showing “this bike can be tracked” is enough to scare off the less motivated
