- Trail Condition is Gravelly in Many Areas
- Buffalo is a much more interesting city than I expected
- Food is generally atrocious
- Western New York Feels like the Midwest
- Canal towns have seen better days
- There is no Empire State Trail Signage in Genesee Valley Park in Rochester
- REI along trail in Rochester can be a life saver
- Biking on the Empire State Trail in Syracuse is AWESOME
- Amazon Lockers can be very useful
- Dominick St in Rome did not feel safe
- BUGS CAN BE INSANE
- Be Careful of Wildlife
- Albany to NYC is more Fun than Buffalo to Albany
- Pack Lighter than you think
- Hotel Prices are Way Up
- Try to Stay in Hotels with Free Breakfast
- Try to Stay at Hotels with Pools
- Kingston NY does not have any well priced hotels in the downtown area
- There is a Lack of good hotel options in Dutchess/Putnam Counties
- Wear Bike Shorts!

Did you not camp and prepare your own food out there? That saves huge amounts of money. I agree on lodging up everywhere. I just want to shower and sleep 8 hours, don’t want to pay $150 for that, especially as a solo rider. Hence camp and wet wipes!
