I've been in the market for a bike after years of not having one, mostly just looking for something for around town and biking trails. something for casual use in warm weather, comfortable, and that can handle unpaved roads alright.
I stopped by my local bike shop and they had one that caught my eye, way different than their normal stuff (mountain bikes and some electric). It's an Adriatica, 'retro lady' style with a 6 or 7 speed gear shift and only light rusting on the cargo thing over the back tire and a few other spots here and there. Nothing on the gears or any other major parts I could see. They said it was brought in as a trade-in, and were reselling it for $499. I tried looking up info on it and it's kind of hard to, the brand's actual website doesn't give much insight into what terrain this bike can handle, or if it did I couldn't figure it out which is totally possible. I tried looking up customer reviews and also didn't really turn up much. Does anyone here have experience with adriaticas or know much about them? would it be worth a $499 price tag? alternative suggestions would also be welcome, thank you

that sounds like quite a lot of money for not much bike, from a brand i’ve never even heard of.
rusting isn’t cool, is it even second hand? if not, imagine how much it might rust if it gets ridden in the rain or wet salty roads.
if you can find a bike you like, locally, from a bigger brand – like specialized, trek, giant, etc – i think that would be a better buy. good luck!
If you’re looking for a bike like this, you can search cruiser, upright position, Dutch style, etc. There are quite a few affordable options via companies like Brooklyn Bicycles, Priority Bicycles, etc. I’m looking at the Priority Turi myself, for a daily commuter and grocery getter.
