I gave up on trying to learn to like downtube shifting, [Igor be damned](https://velo-orange.com/blogs/theveloorangeblog/downtube-shifters-in-2023) and decided to try to migrate my dt lever to a bar-end, since I love the aesthetic of these Shimano Santés.

The only unused bar-end shifter in my parts bin was a left/front mount, which limits the lever range vs the right side. I’ve read about people filing shifters before, so I went to work. After half a dozen remove/remount trials to make sure I wasn’t over-filing, I’ve reached flawless functionality!

TL;DR: 5 speed lever on a 3 speed mount pulling a 9 speed derailleur, $0.00 spent.
