Had a tire blow off my rim this weekend. Threw a tube in and continued on. Inspecting the tire, and rim this morning, I noticed the seam of the rim now has a lip and is misaligned. Is this worthy of replacement? It seems minor, but the front wheel is smooth and aligned.

On a related note, I’ve had nothing but trouble with my rene herself tires. Impossible to mount initially, and now this blow out. Never had anything like this before.

  1. Maybe try to force it into allignment as much as possible wipe the contaminants off and do tubeless setup, how ever if there is an air leak u could run tubular tyres or get a new rim

just my experience with RH, and likely these exact same rims (WTB ST i23? Just by the look of it?) you probably need just another layer of tape.

How are your spoke tensions? any cracking near spoke holes? how’s the trueness? all normal maintenance stuff to check out before deciding the rim is dead.

Same tire worked okay with a tube? Most likely just need another layer of tape, is my guess.

If the wheel is okay and the setup is fine with a tube, I’d just keep running it with a tube. I don’t think what you’re looking at is even out of normal rim tolerance.
