Open to other suggestions but I’ve decided between these two over Marin Nicasio 2, Specialized Diverge E5, and the Surly Straggler.

I had my mountain bike (Trek Roscoe 6) and gravel bike (Poseidon Redwood) stolen. I’m left with my road bike (Specialised Secteur).

Prior to road cycling, I rode gravel and even raced gravel. I did a bit of recreational mountain biking and liked my mid-fat tires for snow and sand, but after all these bikes and experience, I am looking for something distinctly cut out for gravel, long distance, occasional touring, and speed for group rides and fitness. I want nicer components than the Redwood. Brakes, shifting, and overall ride on that bike often felt rough and I poured way too much $ into a budget bike to be worth it. Glad we found each other because it’s what got me into cycling, but the thieves have necessitated a bigger budget.

I am willing to spend $2.5k but think the $2k mark could get me what I need.
