First fixed gear conversion–I had this old Coppi “Tour de France” frame by Fiorelli, local bike shop wizards turned it into my first fixed gear conversion. I love how the frame geometry rides. Love this machine. Some nice bits, some ordinary bits, not an ostentatious build but I really like how it came together. Lovely ride.
Brooks Swallow saddle and grips; Velo Orange Milan handlebars; Nitto Dynamic stem; Tange Passage headset; FSA Italian bottom bracket 70×110.5 mm; All-City 612 crankset, 48t chainring, 170 mm crank arms;
Phil Wood track hubs; Surly track cog: 16t; H Plus Son TB14 rims; Schwalbe Marathon 700c x 25mm; Tektro brakes, levers.
10 mile each way commute, 1,100’ ascent on the way home. No giant hills, no heroic climbs. Gear ratio is perfect for the commute.
