So having been lurking on here for a little while , I have been inspired into a Lord of the rings type build (you know, one bike to rule them all…). Basically I want to have one bike for most of my day to day needs such as commuting (12 miles), rides with the kids, weekend blasts for fun and asprirationally some longer distance bikepacking.
I found this beauty on Ebay and have already swapped over to a on one Geoff bar which initial riding feels very comfy although a different position to what I am used to.
From fork is being swapped for a rigid option I have picked up and the bike is getting a respray.
From a bit of research, this is a 1999 gt tempest which was in gts team colours but someone has resprayed the white into the grey now showing. Not a fan so I am going to respray it all in one colour.
Otherwise, plan is to ride it but once I sell my other bikes I know I will probably be getting twitchy fingers to start the upgrades.
Parts aren’t original and have been replaced with new but lower spec items (tourney). I’m not a part snob so will happily ride it as is but as this will be my only bike and a project I will start the process of upgrades as and when I find them
