Local history enthusiast and much-loved orator Alan Wenham gives the latest in his much appreciated talks on the evolution of life in Eastbourne.
In ‘Life in Wartime Eastbourne’, the second of a series of three connected talks (the first talk – Eastbourne in the 1920s and 1930s – is already available on this channel and the third and final talk – will arrive here in Autumn), Alan paints detail on Eastbourne during both World Wars.
The richly illustrated talk was given to members of the Eastbourne Society (www.eastbournesociety.co.uk) at their March 2024 monthly meeting, and Vision for Eastbourne have embellished and improved the presentation for your viewing pleasure.

Absolutely wonderful presentation – many thanks for posting.
Thank you. That was absolutely brilliant!
Another thoroughly enjoyable presentation from Alan – thank you! Interesting to see the lovely Barclays Bank at 56:27 prior to its sad destruction. My grandfather was manager of the replacement building in Terminus Road and I have inherited photos from him of the wonderful interior of the old bank, in sharp contrast to the interiors of modern banks.
