  1. With these types of brakes, sometimes the only way to balance them is to literally bend the silver spring bar outward to provide more tension, if that is what is required. The screw threads tend to be ineffective at providing enough of a change to get it right.

    In your first photo, if you disengage the silver wire that your thumb is on, then bend it from the midpoint towards the left of the picture, it will increase tension a bit.
