Theres also a slidey bit in the gap of the tightening screws.

yes, unless you are riding through a pressure washer.
the connector itself is sealed. the cap you lost only keeps dust and debris away.
if you are worried you could cover it with some tape.
Assuming the preload is set and the pitch bolts tightened to spec it doesn’t matter.
That’s a Shimano power meter crank – and the cap on there is just a little plastic aesthetic cover. The electrical plug is sealed with its own gasket and the preload is managed by that ‘castle’ nut that the plug wire goes through. As long as the preload is correct and the pinch bolts are still tight, you’re good to go. That little ‘slidey bit in the gap’ should be pushed down (it snaps into place around). If it can’t be pushed down, there’s a strong chance your left crank arm is not fully engaged onto the axle.
