I probably didn’t have the pedal tightened enough, so it came loose and then suddenly stripped some threads near the outside. Pedal goes in diagonally if I try to screw it in. Should I try to remake the threads by screwing in the pedal from the other side or take it to a bike shop to get tapped or just get a new arm?

Take it to a shop and have them run a 9/16th tap through it from the backside. That’s looks fairly salvageable.
You could tap it from the back with a pedal tap, or you could gamble and do it with the pedal. The backup plan is helicoiling it if after tapping it there’s too much material loss etc.
A replacement is like $25. I’d just do that instead (or upgrade while you’re at it: [https://www.ebay.com/itm/235504407279?itmmeta=01HWC6J784ZFTH6P6VF5Z1P1NT&hash=item36d52812ef:g:zugAAOSwL8ZmDXdJ&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAAwCQoqw6DZXHWB8m1%2BUGa%2BUIrUnyyWnktZ0D9ZfgEAsRS8Do41sSgZsCfheNREEiqvNCmje3BuMsCBhRuZz26w%2FLycxWYuJ4YFXZaN7gG6PJqfQfFGWjzECTbxLgNHlP4ubV6li3ul4SGS8rPCqgOkVWEK1UDbqSFNA2v3H5DECJxwMZD9xgGPhOQAFzclHTYmH%2Fin4GLAsHptJDaaf8APNYuP8PhehF2n0tb5iz3hrLJqkvSBcPwvak8AljHdeOk5A%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR5b0yIbjYw](https://www.ebay.com/itm/235504407279?itmmeta=01HWC6J784ZFTH6P6VF5Z1P1NT&hash=item36d52812ef:g:zugAAOSwL8ZmDXdJ&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAAwCQoqw6DZXHWB8m1%2BUGa%2BUIrUnyyWnktZ0D9ZfgEAsRS8Do41sSgZsCfheNREEiqvNCmje3BuMsCBhRuZz26w%2FLycxWYuJ4YFXZaN7gG6PJqfQfFGWjzECTbxLgNHlP4ubV6li3ul4SGS8rPCqgOkVWEK1UDbqSFNA2v3H5DECJxwMZD9xgGPhOQAFzclHTYmH%2Fin4GLAsHptJDaaf8APNYuP8PhehF2n0tb5iz3hrLJqkvSBcPwvak8AljHdeOk5A%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR5b0yIbjYw)
A threaded insert could be installed. But it may not be worth the hassle…
