Shimano Ultegra 12 speed (RD-8150). Derailleur copped a knock and now it’s got this crack here. Can’t feel any play, and it shifts fine, just worried that it could fail suddenly.

Fml so much money. Sorry to contribute to yet another idiotic “Is this cracked” post. Thought I’d ask just in case. Thanks for the advice.
Replace it. Could damage frame, spokes/wheel, and/or injury you when it fails.
It could be dangerous for sure.
Look at it this way: It’s only a couple hundred bucks for a new Di2 rear, that’s less than the copays for a trip to the ER if it breaks off and takes out your rear wheel at speed

Seriously, this thing looks *mint*. If you walked into my shop and said “I don’t know what happened! I was just cleaning the bike and I found this crack?” I’d be pulling up your receipt off Lightspeed and seeing when you bought it, then working with you on a warranty claim. You’d be surprised how generous bike warranty departments are sometimes. Shit, Shimano probably has 100,000+ of these things just sitting in a warehouse costing them money, they’d probably love to give you a new one.

Biggest danger is if it fails, gets tangled in the chain and damages the frame.

Luckily, the derailleur hanger on mine failed while climbing instead of descending or speeding on flats and **only** wrecked the rear wheel and frame instead of …?..?… other additional bodily harm ..?
Don’t ride that bike until it’s fixed.
