To celebrate British Science Week 2024, Tara and Ben from the Convex Seascape Survey science team talked about how marine protected areas (MPAs) are giving the seascape time to ‘heal’.
The team has recently been working off the Isle of Arran in Scotland and has seen both the devastation caused by human activity and the ability of nature to rebound. This lesson covers the different creatures that aid this process and the time it takes for these habitats to recover.
Marine protection is sadly not a magic wand and the lesson ends by looking at some of the wider issues that we can all tackle, including climate change, overfishing, and water quality.
