Through the lever bolt.
This is a brake lever return spring.

Need to find the missing bolt/pin first. The brake at the wheel will have its own return springs. Many, many brake levers do not include a brake return spring and rely on the springs that are built into the brake caliper itself. If you find the pin and can’t work out precisely how the spring sits in the lever, maybe just put the pin back in and see if the lever returns ok without the spring.
