Sorry I didn’t pay the 100% premium for a bike from that shop

Has this shop never dealt with integrated cockpits before?

I’ve done an aeroad with the cp0018 cockpit and I’ve done a simplon pride (and other bikes with semi integrated cockpits)… The neat part about the canyon cockpit is that you can shove way more brake line down the cockpit than needed. All bikes with a true fully integrated cockpits are horrible to work on. Stop whining about it when you want the clean looks to save 2 watts.

Providing clear documentation / assembly instructions and replacement parts should be good enough IMO. Once you know how things are put together it’s not much more work than other integrated cockpits.
Canyon also have this thing called Canyon Service Partner so if you want deeper connection with them maybe that’s worth checking out.

It’s not an canyon problem, it’s an integrated cockpit problem (which is very lengthy discussion over the whole internet since it’s uprise). As a hobby mechanic, i would not want a bike with integrated headset, as a bike shop, they should be fine either way.
If they moan about, go to the next lbs.

I really don’t understand how contentious this topic is. ANYONE who has ever worked in, or run a bike shop, knows the last thing you make money on in a bike shop are the bikes people buy. Its without a doubt the lowest margins of anything in that store. Want to guess what the highest margins are? Ding ding! Service tickets. So I’m just curious who is doing all this complaining as I have a hard time coming to terms with bike shop owners giving a shit. Many brands, including ones who use bike shops as reps (like GIANT) have proprietary parts, particularly surrounding the cockpit.

I had to disassemble the headset on my Canyon Pathlite ON this morning. It was a little daunting at first, but I figured it out quick at least. Integrated headsets aren’t just from Canyon though.

I ordered a replacement headset bearing kit for my Endurace a couple of years ago. Cost me a whopping $18 and then I took it to my LBS. Integrated bar/stem combo (H31 on my CF SLX). LBS turned it around in 24 hours. What am I missing?

I mean, the Germans are known for overengineeering stuff and having really expensive special tools and parts (cough cough bmw audi cough cough) so I guess I’m not shocked.

The Shapeshifter on my Strive has been met with quite a few ‘nope’ from LBSs in town.

Never had a problem. Mechanics and shops are always happy for the business and I am happy to pay for a job well done. Don’t be a cheap ass and shops will maintain your bike
