Hey guys! Thanks for all the nice comments! Figured I would tell you my story… Sometime a while back I totally got an obsession with Bridgestones. started in the early 2000’s when I worked for Bridgestone (the Tire retail operations side of things), and was just getting into cycling and would ride to work. a coworker invited me over his place to show me his yellow RB1 that he got new in ‘93, I don’t think he ever rode it, he just had a career working for Bridgestone and thought it looked cool so bought it from him for $400.
Years later life got crazy and sold it, regretted that so much, and when I got my life back together I found the same ‘93 on ebay! So got that one and started focusing more on me and what I like to do… in addition to riding and wanted to learn everything I could on my favorite hobby, So started tinkering and volunteering at my local bike coop. I Would cruise marketplace and buy frames and parts, watch videos, learn by trial and error, and the collection just keeps growing! I built from parts the red RB1, Zip, and MB6.
And I have around a dozen other bikes/frames in various states. All mostly steel frames from the late 80’s – early 2000’s. Grateful that my wife puts up with me and my obsessive hobby (bikes take up a lot of space haha)… I enjoy just about anything I can do with a bike… building xBikes, collecting Bridgestones, and especially volunteering at the Coop and helping others get their bikes back on the road!
Next on my Radar is to find a RB-T to build out, load it up with Racks and Bags and start doing some overnight rides!
