As long as you’re not buying it for those components, looks pretty low-end

  2. It depends on the local market, but you should be able to get something newer and better for $250. this bike is quite heavy relative to newer steel frames and looks like it may have steel wheels which are terrible at stopping in rain.

  3. The frame is heavy but peak Schwinn quality imo. If it’s your size then I’d say go for it. Buy it just for the frame, build it up with quality components, and sell the non-schwinn parts.

I’m fairly sure these are the filet brazed Schwinns made by hand along side the Paramounts (as opposed to the more common electroforged models like the Varsity, Continental, etc.)
Pretty cool and collectible bike in what appears to be original condition, which in my opinion makes it worth $250…though if you want something to ride everyday there are far better options for the money.

  5. Neat to look at, if you are looking for something that is nice to ride you can do better

  6. I need to see the rear dropouts. If they’re forged, then yes it’s totally worth it. The ’71-’75 Sport Tourers are the good ones. The parts are crap but you can upgrade everything if the frame is nice.

  7. its a little expensive but if the bikes been tuned up its worth it. if you dont work on bikes yourself a full tuneup can be like 150 nowadays. if it fits you well and you like it id say its worth.

    UPDATE: I bought it!!

Definitely not tuned recently so I’ll do that myself but the Brooks saddle is in amazing condition, as is the rest of the bike. Just needs a good wipe down, tune up, and new brake pads. The lights work too which a fun, vintage cool-factor bonus
