I picked up this handlebar bag at a garage sale for cheap. On each side of the lower bottom, there are these straps with cords and metal O rings. Does anyone have an idea what these are for? The bag functions fine without using them, so I’m stumped. TIA for the help!

I have one with a similar design, though with hooks instead of O rings I the cords. I run the cord under the head tube and attach to the opposite side of the bag, where there’s a ring to attach to. Not sure if it’s right, as the cords seem too long and there’s not much tension. Don’t love it, but it takes 30 seconds to install, no brackets or whatever. Looks terrible, but functions.
