Hi everyone,
I’m preparing for a not too long trip, I estimated (filling other bags) that 15 liters should be enough…. I wanted to ask for opinions regarding the Ortlieb 16.5L seat pack product.
I have a Cannondale Topstone 1 size S, it is quite small, I attach some photos that explain the space under the saddle.
In your experience, could the product ortlieb when completely full cause discomfort on the wheel? has anyone tried?
thanks for the feedback

I have a size XS women’s mountainbike by Cube, I know the struggle. Only thing that worked for me is getting racks because obviously bikeframe bags are out of the question (I can barely fit my water bottle, lol) and I never trusted to have enough space between my seat and rear wheel. The day will come that I’m having to overstuff the seat pack and then I’m screwed.

I attached a rear rack and now use the back roller bags by Ortlieb and they’re really awesome. They do look more touring of course, but they can fit so much, I don’t even need a front rack or frame bags. These bags are also easily taken off, so I can bring them with me and lock the bike. I’ve done some questionable trails and they’ve never flown off either, although I have to consider my width of course. They have their (dis)advantages.

  2. My Ortlieb seat post bag, the larger of the two they do, or did about four years ago… is 15 cm deep at that point, it happily fits my bike (Voodoo Bizango Pro M) where the clearance you are measuring in your second picture is 20 cm. The clearance you measure in your first picture will not be a problem for either of their seat post bags, I own both the older small one (14L maybe) and large one (16.5 I’m sure) and having a quick glance at the Orlieb site tells me the design has not hanged that much : )

I think you will be OK.

  3. I use a 16.5l ortlieb bag with my small size temple and had no issues. The straps hold tight but just ensure you pack it properly so it holds its rigidity.

  4. I had this problem on 48cm cx canti brakes bike. Lucked out on a used Revelate Designs seatbag that juuust fit. Doubt it’s 15l tho.

edit: maybe get a rack (you seem to have bolt placements) and strap a bag on top of that lengthwise, or just use it as a tire guard for any-old-seatbag and you’re done on a budget too
