Rs685 shifter possibly leaky master cylinder?
I’ve been having problems with this shifter. It would require me to pump the brake a few times before it’ll ramp up, otherwise, it’ll pull almost all the way back to the handlebar, and probably bottom out in an emergency stop. Ive tried bleeding it the other day, and made sure all the fittings were good. I did everything I knew to make sure there weren’t any air inside, to the point where it felt firmer than my front brake lever. But the next day, it got soft again. I bought the rear caliper new, but this shifter was used. It’s been through a few crashes but very minimal scratching from what I can tell. Today, I found the gasket wasnt completely lined up on the master cylinder. Could this be the cause of my issues? I have not noticed any leaking, but figured if it’s working for weeks on end in this manner, it must be a super small leak. I took a picture of the piston as well, but can’t tell if that’s oil or just dirt. Anyone work on these things ? Is it worth rebuilding? Im not sure you can get spare gaskets for these..
