      You should have seen it I was saved by the drunkest stalker looked like he sat down at a fire for the first time to looked genuinely surprised by the warmth

      You can add a bazillion survival mechanics to a game/mod, but without any underlying adversity to support it, it's nothing more than a walking simulator. This is true of all stalker games and respective mainstream mods. The only real exception to that is warfare with ironman enabled. As a veteran of all games (and mods) it's really the only experience where survival actually means something. The bitter irony that Anomaly-Warfare is basically a stack-trace simulator and was never fixed. Up to the point it inevitably fails (which it will and often) it's really the only example of true survival, not just in the series but in the whole genre.

      This mod is unfortunately the same as Misery where the experience can be summed up to a radioactive walking simulator with pig farming. Building your character up for a fight that doesn't exist. Utterly lifeless only to be entertained by your hunger bar. The world itself posing no threat because it's built on a game engine that cannot support more than a few dilly-dallying humanoid AI.

      This is the main distinction between all mods and Warfare. It enables odds stacked against you with the added option of making death final. Or optionally set it to have a finite amount of lives. Options to run every faction hostile to yours. There is something actually at stake now. You are constantly on your toes being rushed from every direction by hordes of enemies with hardcore aim enabled.

      That is the only experience I've encountered that would qualify as actual survival. Too bad the engine is too old to properly support it. Like I said, the bitter irony. All the other mods are for people who want to gawk at the sunrise, fight off mosquitos and hunger and take 15 minutes to kill a single enemy, waiting 45 minutes until you see another and no true consequence for failure.

      I'm pretty sure I'm about to download this and put another 200-300 hours in to this game. I've played it vanilla, left ways right ways, overhauls. I've never seen this. Most of my time is on missery which is super hardcore but I get new game vibes off this mod it looks dope.

      games that have no challenge, i will play for maybe 1 or 2 hours waiting for a challenge and most of the time uninstall. starfield – uninstalled. stalker – always on highest difficulty.
