Hi all, today was a very sad day. Going downhill on a little section, my NX derailleur decided to wrap itself into the spokes and destroying everything in its way along with the chain snapping in half..
I am quite shocked to why this happened and looking to get some advice or answers. The bike was serviced just last month with a new draileur hanger and shifting cable at a shop.
Prior to this service I’ve been rocking this bike across 4 different bike parks and just last weekend I was doing some small DH.
And I am gutted to see this happen after the bike is serviced. Can this be the shops fault? Not fitting something properly?
Please if you have any advice! I would really like to avoid this in the future if I can, especially after riding this setup for over 2 years without any similar issue.

Looks like the derailleur hanger came unbolted. This caused it to fall off and hit other moving bits. Little hard to tell if bolt parts are left in the frame threads
If a shop just serviced it, take it back to them and see what they say happened. Maybe they will make it all good. If they don’t you will need to buy some new parts
This could be the shops fault setting the limit screws but it’s hard to say with lit seeing it. I can say I’ve seen this happen a lot and it did explode but got pulled into the spokes. After that it was a battle of non moving derailleur vs wheel and the derailleur hanger always gets snapped off. The reason for it being pulled in to the wheel could be many thing the first I would check are the limit screws if that seem to be go I’d start looking a wheel flex/ suspension linkage it likely wouldn’t be that but that but it’s possible. Another is a stick or other trail debris being pulled into the drive train / wheel then that pulled the derailleur into the wheel.
Imo I would take it to the shop and explain everything. idk if they will warranty it but if it was the shop I worked it you’d get free laybor as solid/ customer retention. At minimum your going to need a derailleur hanger and the derailleur looks mangled too id say 120 ish in parts maybe another 100 in laybor.
