Changed the chain out when it it just before .75% yet it was far too late, my 7th gear was completely shot and skipping on the new chain (of which exposed the worn out gear)
Since my bike is a PX Special (Walmart for service members) bike it has a “free wheel” setup, which is old and tends to break more. I rode home on a flat wheel and ended up bending my rear axel.
This new setup will be a “cassette body” to include a new “cassette sprocket” so no gear skipping/pair nicely with my new chain.
Newer design, stronger, and should have less issues moving forward, plus a quick release for the rear tire to boot.
More photos of the final install, and tougher tires (Schwalbe – Marathon Plus) with less likelihood of flats.
