It’s probably a good deal but you haven’t provided any info.
– find out the initial selling price and make a judgement on the asking price
– it says he made upgrades to the bike… what are they? What maintenance was done? This is important
– IS IT STOLEN! The person needs to provide a serial number to be run against bike index or the police, do not buy a stolen bike as it can be apprehended from you.

Trek Crossrip 1 size 54cm (medium in most bikes). Bit of a do-it-all gravel grinder. It has served me well, but I’ve upgraded. This bike has been a great first gravel bike. It will make a fine touring/gravel/commuter/project bike for a long time to come.
Some specs here:
Set up tubeless with 700x40c WTB Nano tires (front has lost its seal and will need to be redone or swapped for a tube) (this is also probably the max tire clearance)
FSA crank 170 cm
Shimano Sora Drivetrain 2×9 (rear derailleur is new)
TRP Spyre Mechnical Disc Brakes
I’ll include the Bontrager flat pedals
Plenty of cable rub, and cosmetic defects. Dent in the top tube (shown in picture) – happened before I owned it, but it’s an aluminum bike so it can handle it. Rack/fender mounts on rear triangle and front fork.
It’s sound like you’re a beginner cyclist. In which case it’s probably fine for testing the waters. It’s not really a gravel bike imo. Sure it can be used on gravel but I doubt the geometry is close to a true gravel bike. It’s a cheap bike you can use for a bit and you can always buy a better bike later if this is something you want to do long term.

$500 seems a little steep. I’m about to start trying to sell a 54cm Crossrip *2* that I’m hoping to get $300-$400 for, though admittedly I just want it out of my garage.

Good components. But dent makes me think $350-400 is correct.
Probably fine but if it isn’t you are out the money.
