I think those are date codes, nothing to do with the model number.

Date codes. Both were made in 2007 (F), one was made in February (B) and the other in March (C).
The calipers are not front or rear specific. EDIT: but pay attention to the orientation of the brake pads. The holders should have a direction arrow on them. If they don’t, remember: the slot in the pad holder to remove the brake pads should face the rear of the bike. The one you have in your hand has the brake pads set up for the rear of the bike.
