Don’t wear a jersey you care about with a backpack.

Get a pannier or a basket.

I just deal with it. I get pilling on my winter pants and shorts. Haven’t gotten it on the jersey from my backpack yet.

Can’t remember what it was called but I got this little battery powered cutter gizmo on Amazon for like $12 that just shaves pilling off of stuff. Bought it for sweaters but have ended up using it mostly on technical fabrics in places that run like this.

In addition to the ‘get a rack & pannier’ crowd – don’t wear your good roadie clothes commuting. I’m more often wearing just gym shorts & a t-shirt.
I’ll often not even wear a chamois, but I have some cheap shorts with chamois for days I want one. I run a leather saddle on the commuter bike and can ride comfortably in jeans for shorter trips.
