Any idea why my garmin 1030 plus would say the shifter batteries are dead but the SRAM app says they’re fine?
Which to trust? Change the batteries anyway?

They should usually last 1-2 years. But the cell batteries are very cheap. If you’re riding with a chest strap, you should be good to “risk it” , since most chest straps are using the same battery (CR2023).
It’s just a bug. Next time you reconnect they’ll be fine again. Happens to me on my Edge 530 as well. Mildly disconcerting if you’re just starting a big ride 😁
