Annie Evans and Huw Oliver investigate a new bikepacking route from the far-north reaches of the UK down to Edinburgh. Along the way, they ride through the former site of the Pictish kingdom, take in breathtaking views, and check out charming Scottish towns.

Yes! Great production. You have one new subscription!
How can I get a day-by-day route guide for this?
Wonderful. I think this will be my next Scottish (number 3) bike adventure from Florida.
Love this, I bike packed Edinburgh to Dundee with my son when he was 3 on a child seat sitting in front on me. Those paths were beautiful
Great adventure! That's what, we all can describe, as a 'romantic cycling' 🙂 Please share with us some GPX path!
Looks immense this route. Been planning a route up from Edinburgh for a while and this has made me more keen to get out on it.
What tent are you using here for this trip? because you dont have any panniers to carry it on and I cant tell where it is stashed on your bike. must be super light and small.
inducing lust for Scottish Gravel🚴🚴♂🚴♀🚴♂🚵🚵♀🚴🚵♂🚴♀🚴♂🚴❤❤❤
how many days did it take them ?
For those interested in the route and more of the details, much of that information can be found here in this route description: https://bikepacking.com/routes/the-pictish-trail/
Love this! It's def made the list 😊
Nice route, but the map in the film shows that the start point wasn't Dunnet Head!
that looks a fantastic route to ride , defo now on the bucket list
Thanks for sharing!
This route would have made a great 3-4 part series. Just over 9 minutes doesn't do the country justice.
hahaha majestical 😉
Great Photography! Way too Confusing, no continuity. Safe Travels!
Amazing…
Stunning and just wonderful looking at overview of the route. In terms of bikes, what’s the minimum tyre size you’d recommend for this a just wondering if my old Dawes Galaxy would be suitable?
what an amazing video …and journey !! congrats!
I would love to do this! I have been told I am a Pict. 23 and me confirms that too; 98%Celt and 2%Neanderthrall. Even have hemochromatosis.
No one has mentioned the insects…. Not so idyllic then!
would be nice to know how you got to the start point
welp, this one's at the top of the bucketlist now
This makes me want to get on my bicycle!
Better weather in Scotland? I was there in May. And there was still snow. 🥶 But it is great there. I loved it very much and someday, who knows, I would like to visit it again 👍
You skipped the county of Angus, that's where lots of Pictish monuments are.
That biscuit with the chocolate spread. What's that called again? Memories from my childhood are bubbling up.
I’m doing the Hebridean way next week (April 2023) The hardest part so far was trying to arrange rail travel whilst having a bicycle. We really do have the worst train service that does not accommodate cyclist customers 😡
It really is bad
Awesome
Is the initial train station where danny McCaskill filmed a wee day out?
Beautifully done!
Very nice video!
glorious production of wildness as far as the eye can see
SOOO glad you posted this video! I'm biking the Danube with 2 buddies this year and never had heard of this trail. This is now on my bucket list. Hopefully the lads will want to join me. All the best
Exquisite, thank you!
Beautifully made video.
This is what it´s all about! Great video!
Super inspiring! QQ: am looking for a new bike and wondered what you were riding, like the idea of something suitable for multi terrain like this?
On this channel I see nothing from Beargrease, so I am OK if you share any of my Beargrease videos here 😉
❤🔥🌶❤🔥
Been looking at upgrading from my Polygon Bend R2 what model Salsa 's are these?
Your videos are unbeatable.❤❤
Any comments / thoughts on reversing the route and going south to north?
Is it possible to ride/pushing on the hills this trail with fully loaded touring bike?
Good 👍👍
