  1. so i bought a masi uno off craigslist for $250 canadian, seemed to be in really good condition, ran pretty well and seemed to be in good condition with some custom parts, until i found a spoke that was broken and wheel was out of true, so i got that fixed, and then it was riding great but last week i somehow managed to crack my freewheel in half? anyways just picked up a brand new Shimano SF-1200 that i’m excited to try out. also bought a cc-3.2 today to check out my chain and see if i need to replace that while i change the freewheel.

It’s probably just shitty chinesium parts but I’d wear that shit like a badge of honor, it couldn’t handle all your watts.

  3. You can buy expensive (White Industries) freewheels, but at like $120 or something last I looked, it doesn’t make sense for a bike that might be worth $200-400 (my single speed as well). I just buy the typical $20–25 freewheels and get a couple years out of them. I’ve bought a few different “brands” over the years but they have all been made by DNP, a Taiwanese company. They usually break down internally (pawl spring failures, etc); I haven’t seen a complete disintegration before!

  4. That sucks. I gave up with cheapo freewheels but couldnt get a WI one at the price here, sp settled with a HALO Clickster and ive been happy since! Unless you hate loud engagement

    Removal tip.

Keep air in tyre. Use a nut with a rubber bushing (skate truck bushing) to hold the removal tool in place so it doesn’t cog out when you’re giving it the beans.
