Packing light for the win. The only bags needed are:
Revelate design harness and 14L drybag
Tent bag also strapped into the harness
Alpkit 2L fuel pod
Revelate design 2L Joey downtube bag
Osprey talon 22L backpack
Honestly I can’t understand what everyone else has in all their bags 😅

Your lower front bag is gonna interfere with the travel of your fork in a major way.
That’s 40liters of total capacity, which seems reasonable for a light backpacking set up. I wonder if people with more bags on their bike aren’t carrying a backpack, or are just carrying more/bulkier gear.
I’d be curious to see a more detailed breakdown of what you chose to take with such minimal kit. Particularly where your food and water is going or things like sleeping bag and sleeping mat.
Im more of bike tourer than bike packer, so I don’t need a lightweight setup. But I’m always looking to experiment with what I need or don’t need.
For reference, I wouldn’t say I over pack but I do bring at least the following
– tent, msr elixir 1
– down sleeping bag
– sleeping pad
– clothes to cover me for a range of temperatures and weather (I live in Scotland where it’s very wet and changeable)
– electronics: battery bank, phone, gps, kindle, wall charger
– stove
– head lamp
– bike tools and spares
– chain lube
– basic toiletries: toothbrush, toothpaste soap, sunscreen and razor
– First aid kit
– water filter
– Swiss Army knife
– food
– water
– bike lock
I mostly wild camp and everything I bring has to go on the bike because I *hate* cycling with even a light backpack. But I think even my most basic kit would require way more than a small backpack and a handlebar bag.
Are you just not taking a lot of the above? Or do you have very small versions of things? I think even just my food, water, stove and sleeping bag would take up your total luggage.
Impressed by your light set up, I have a lot more and probably belong at biketouring.
But I would never want to wear a backpack doing 100km a day.
40L total capacity is pretty similar to a frame bag, bad bag, seat bag or micro pannier setup so they probably have the same things in their bags that you do.
22 liter backpack would immediately hurt my groin. Are you cycling off the seat a lot? Most people put that on the rear.
To me this looks miserable. The thought of cycling with a backpack for 6 km is bad enough. Each to their own I guess.
When I set up camp I like reclining on my helinox chair, drinking a cup of tea before my comfortable sleep; watching all the ultralight dudes crawl into their sweaty one person tents girding themselves to spend the night dutch ovening farts and the stench of unwashed bibs mixed with shammy butter and antibacterial cream.
I see the envy on your faces while I read my kindle on my camp throne, feeling a sense of deep satisfaction that cutting a toothbrush in half or sleeping on bubble wrap will never rival.
We had everything above + a few more bits, generally we were always carrying a couple of days of food with us. The thing we really skimped on was clothes, I only brought two sets of clothes + a rain coat and fleece
