    Scratched stanchion on Marzocchi Bomber Z1

    Recently picked up a 2022 Marzocchi Bomber z1 and got a couple rides on it. Was riding a rocky section of trail (Woodruff ridge in Wilson’s creek WNC) and took a fall and unfortunately my fork found the side of a rock.

    What would be the best advice for repairing this? Additionally, what type of CSU would fit 2022 Z1 lowers? Per Marzocchis warranty from what I understood, this type of situation is not covered under warranty.

    Any help is appreciated!

      anything you’d do is just a bandaid for2-3 days. replace before your seals and sliding support rings are f*****. i wouldn’t ride it anymore because it will cause alot of even more expensive damage to the parts where this slides into

      I would buff it up with really fine sandpaper 2000-3000 (gradually) so it wont damage seals. People say that nail polish or compound like that is good for scratches. Fill scratches with this and sand them again untill smooth. If its not working i guess new stanchion time.

      I had some scratches on my fork too, I have filled them with epoxy and polished with 1000 grit sandpaper.

      That’s a good bit of damage, right in the middle where there’s a lot of movement. You can try sanding like others said. But you still risk damaging the bushings in the fork lowers from being so active in on that spot.

      Sendhit: Stanchion repair kit.
      I’ve never used it, but it’s on my shopping list if I ever need to. For what I could find, it really works and it comes with everything you’ll need. Best of luck and updates please.

      It’s not that bad.. geez people acting like it’s the end of the world! get a some fine wet and dry paper, 500 and 100. And a lolly stick, wrap it around the stick, start with the 500, get it as smooth as you can and then go over with the 1000. You won’t get rid of the deep bits but they at least won’t catch on the seals. If it’s quite deep, a small amount of epoxy glue like jb weld will work, smooths out great too!

      Your forks will perform fine, you’ll get some oil lose now and again and you’re more than likely get mud in the wipers. But it will be fine! I’ve done entire race seasons with damage worse than that lol

      Why don’t forks have those rubber accordion things anymore? Too annoying? Seems like they could protect against something like this

      Thanks for all the help! Really only worried because its a brand new fork. Would anyone be able to confirm this?

      Sand it down it down and watch your seals more . Can’t imagine replacing the stanchions for a idk $500 fork now? I tore my fox 38 up much worse than this and it was fine so just serviced it more during the season.
