Ritchey dropouts, xtr brakes and rear derailleur, wtb tires and chain good, only thing it really needs is new brake pads. It’s a bit big for me as a mountain bike, but top tube is same as my touring bike. Is it a good candidate for drop bar? Have a PNW bar and some old brifters already. Would have to change brakes to cantis (have an old pair of those, too).

Frame alone should fetch a few hundred. This is a super duper cool bike. I know people that would buy this in a heartbeat for several hundred more than $100. Myself included.

Converting it to cantis will be a challenge with the front fork. It doesn’t look like it has a cable stop for cantis. V road brake levers and either bar end shifters or gevenalle would be my recommendation. Kelly takeoff shifter mounts would allow you to mount downtube shifters inboard of the road brake levers – I’ve got some and greatly prefer bar-end shifters. If you’re going to convert it to drop bars a short reach high rise stem or possibly a short reach stem combined with a stem riser will get the bars at about the right height. Road bikes have a taller head tube/stack height than a MTB as drop bars drop down whereas flat bars don’t. For $100 you scored. A while ago I bought a fat chance for $75. It happens.
