I am taking apart a bike and swapping parts to a new frame. I’m learning throughout the process and there are some things I’m a bit less familiar with.

The hydraulic brake hoses are internally routed, I expect to be able to pull out the hose from the lever and then pull the hose through the frame. Problem is there is a metal bit around the ends of the hose which prevents me from pulling it through. Does this mean I need to cut it off and buy new hoses? Is this usual, I’m wondering if I buy new hoses how those metal rings are installed, do you simply buy a fixed length that already has them attached?

  1. You have to cut those off. You may be able to reuse the hoses with new olives and barbs, depending on the length of hose needed for the new frame.
