I clip in on my single speed, and strap in my fixie, I prefer clipped in (spd) but it’s crap having to have the spd shoes

I ride clipless actually.

If youβre concerned with power and speed, straps are good. If youβre more of a leisurely rider, donβt bother.

If you’re a newbie, don’t use the straps and get used to everything else. They will not really be useful or provide any confidence at this point.

I love my straps, really lets me lay down the power when I need to and gives me extra leverage on the hills. I’ve thought about going clipless (I have clipless pedals on my other bike) but I like not having to bring a second pair of shoes with me to go riding.
