I’m fighting with myself if this is a good deal. A pair of matching Specialized Hard Rocks, bone stock, 20-year-old garage sleepers according to the seller. One with 26” wheels, one with 24” wheels. There are some scratches and scuffs but the photos look pretty solid.
I almost got them both for $175, which was a no-brainer at that price, but then dude said his wife made him double the price. LOL
What’s y’all’s temperature on these? I don’t see Hard Rocks as much as I see Rockhoppers and Stumpys, so I’m a little unsure.

All those wheels look the same size to me
Way overpriced. Hardrocks were the lowest priced entry for Specialized (rock hoppers were mid range, stump jumpers the nicest), so the frames are just chro-mo with entry level components like exage etc.
$175 for both would be fine, maybe $200, but $350 is just way too high.
They may be garage sleepers, but probably need new tires, new grips, have garbage plastic pedals, and likely need some new cabling/reworking of the cables.
I’d take that price any day
Hey, I saw these on craigslist too! I was debating messaging the seller to get some sizing information. Glad I didn’t, not worth $350 imo, unless they are pristine.

I remember riding one of these back in the period when they were new, they were super fun.
I have one in the same color I paid $50 for. As far as I can tell this is 87 or 88, they had canti brakes on the seat stays in 89, 87 was the first year for the model.
Tbh you can do better for $175/each.
`$100-125 is a fair price for a single hard rock, so I’d say bad deal here. They make for good project bikes and cruising around town but even if they haven’t been touched since they were bought you’ll still have to put money into replacing tires, brake pads, etc. Not worth it at that price imo. Better off spending on a Rockhopper at that price where you’ll have a slightly higher quality frame and components to work with from the jump.
Nice! I’m working on the same bike right now. They are super fun even if you just get the old component tuned up and rip it!
Possibly a trick of the perspective, but the fork on the right could be bent. Offer $200 if you REALLY want them and let him know you’ll pick it up at a sneaky time if need be.
That’d be a good price in my area, I dunno where everyone else lives where bikes are so cheap haha.
Those are 87s. Had one just like it. Called it Teal Steel. Sold it for $150 as it was in great shape.
Getting 2 bikes for $350 is not a good deal. They’re basically offloading the bike to you so they should give you a volume discount. I would offer 150 for just the one bike that you want. If they insist on both or nothing then make it 280 (140 each) as you’re doing them a favor.
All you have to do is, buy them, throw $500 in new parts n pieces and you could probably get that $350 back!
