Which bike would you get? Sorry I didn’t take more photos, I was nervous that they thought I was trying to flip them or something
But looking to get in to the community and looking at these two bikes at a local shop. They both felt fine to me, Mercier’s brakes felt better, but I’d fix the others or upgrade them on my own later anyways. Any advice?

The kilo wide tire is pretty much always sold out from bikes direct. If I saw one for $300, I’d grab it no hesitation
I love me some old Lotus bikes, and this one looks exceptionally nice, but go with the Mercier for the reasons mentioned by others.
Go whit the mercier wt! Its an actual fixed gear frame whit horizontal drop out not like the lotus. Super good quality, super durable and you can fit some wider tires 🙂
The reynolds 520 steel that the mercier is made of is pretty damn good for a starter bike, also it is worth it to upgrade all the components on it to make it ride better than it does with the stock components.
That 300 dollar bike on the far right is the way
Whichever bike fits you best, but the current setup on the Kilo looks whacky so it may be hard to determine. Tower of spacers, positive rise stem, plus riser bars lmao. But the frame on the Kilo is super nice. That’s one of the older ones before they went to a separate seat clamp.
The kilo wt is so hard to find and so damn great, I spent the entire pandemic trying to source one. Only got lucky that an amazing fellow redditor who lived locally saw me hunting for one and sold me his, as he was down sizing his stable of bikes.
U/RedBannerRocker is right. Mercier is almost like the Toyota of bikes. Both the wt and TT are so great I often think of grabbing a TT but there’s no point. I have a conversion for speed and the wt for fun. Think of the WT like the Toyota 4Runner of fixed gear bikes. Dependable, cost effective, fun to modify, good durability etc.
