I’m looking to get into mountain biking and am in the process of selecting my first MTB. I’ve come across two bikes within **the same price range ($2,500 CAD)** but am unsure which would be the best choice. Here are the details:
**Bike 1**:
-Rocky Mountain Pipeline C70 2019 (PDSF 7 318$ CAD)
-50H suspension serviced in July 2023
-Dropper serviced in 2023
-Upgraded brakes (front and rear) for SRAM Code 200mm in 2023
-A few scratches but nothing major
-Carbon frame
**Bike 2**:
-Custom bike from a local shop bought 3 years ago for 3 300$ CAD, according to the owner
-Rear and front wheel hub changed for Race Face Vault J414/J424
-According to the owner, used for a few km (less than 100km)
-Steel frame
I’m primarily looking for a bike to ride at local trails with friends, but who know maybe I will end up doing more MTB than road biking. I’m relatively new to MTB and don’t want to make a purchase I’ll regret later on. Which bike would you recommend? Are there any specific questions I should be asking the sellers?
