I was buying some Stonglight parts I found on Craigslist and the people also had this Mountain Klein in the garage they wanted to sell. From the hexadecimal serial number it’s #501 and probably 1986, maybe late 1985. It has the roller cam brake and internal routed chain stay. The rear wheel and cassette were changed out sometime in the 90s with STX Parallax 7 speed hub and Mavic D521 rim. The stem and bars are vintage Salsa and obviously not original. The pedals have been changed to Time ATAC clip-less. The rest of the bike seems original. I will most likely change out the stem, bars and pedals to something more original like SunTour with riser bars and bear traps. The tires are Smoke and Dart and seem to be in great shape, but the rear is facing the wrong direction and needs to be flipped. I will probably disassemble the bike, clean and re-grease everything and put new cables and grips. In the future I may look for the correct Dura Ace rear wheel with 6 speed cassette.
