Labour’s deputy leader Angela Rayner is facing questions about whether she paid enough tax on a house sale, almost a decade ago.
She denies any wrongdoing and has been backed by the party’s leader Sir Keir Starmer, with some colleagues claiming she’s being “smeared”.
On the Sky News Daily, Mark Austin unpicks exactly what Angela Rayner is accused of and discusses if the allegations are really in the public interest with Sky’s political correspondent Rob Powell.
They also talk about how important Ms Rayner is to Labour’s election ambitions with polling expert Scarlett Maguire.

I just do not trust Labour leader or his party they have too many flaws who would in there right mind believe they can do better than what Tories are doing? There is an opportunity here for Labor to highlight how complicated our tax and electoral laws are, that the Govt has shown by accepting donations from compromised people that what’s in the past can be left in the past and that by focusing on minor potential infractions/misunderstandings it is distracting from more important matters.
Also, Labour should be ready for this rubbish speculative reporting if they enter govt.
Hopefully the papers are similarly auditing the tax and personal affairs of the other parties and reporting on an unbiased basis.

Isn't it true that after seven years capital gains tax is annulled they cant claim it back.
Its an obvious smear from the desperate right wing Conservatives that would rather we didn't look into the millions of pounds donated to their party by businesses that seek to influence government policy and line their own pockets, rather than an issue involving a thousand pounds when Rayner wasn't even an MP. Vote tactically to get them out and fight against corruption.

Its like Michelle Mone pointing the finger at someone that left the newsagents after forgetting to pay for the newspaper under there arm…. 15 years ago.
So, it’s now confirmed that her statement (‘I’ve never been a landlady’) is a straight lie. And that she in fact was (still is?) as her brother was there, and paying her rent.
Clearly, she has not declared this rent to HMRC, so that is yet another offence she has committed (i.e. evasion of Income Tax as well as Capital Gains tax, and probably Council tax too) and she should now be punished for.
The skeletons in the closet are really piling up.
Another point worth considering, is that this is someone who considers themselves competent to be running the country (despite leaving school with no qualifications) but this scarcely believable farce could hardly have been handled more incompetently than she has managed, with all sorts of incriminating and/or conflicting evidence arising solely from her own inept actions…
To be honest, If I had to list ten things that I would like this government to be 'laser focused on' this wouldn't make the top ten. Just saying.
