Im new to the hobby and found a 1x on marketplace. I’m currently on a 3x and wondering if this guy is a good deal.
Also, what are things I need to look at to ensure compatibility with my current ride?
Unlikely your 3x frame will be compatible with a modern 1x groupset.
Also, that stuff looks pretty worn out. Likely the cassette is trashed.

Wouldn’t buy stuff like this 2nd hand as you don’t know how much the wear and tear truely is. It for sure had quite a lot of use.
Would help if you list you current bike to judge whether this would work. Probably you’ll need a different freehub (or just buy a SX or NX Casette) and different bottom bracket. The width of the crank-axle (and chainline) is also depend on the rear axle width.
My suggestion that probably works: Buy an NX Casette, GX Shifter & Derailleur (or just an NX upgrade kit without cranks) + a narrow-wide chainring to put on your current crankset on the middle position. Sets you back 250-300 dollar I assume (would be 250euro in total in europe)

Make sure your bike is compatible with a 1x first, and assuming it is, I wouldn’t get this drivetrain, especially for $160 cause it looks like it’s at the end of its life (especially that derailleur and cassette). Maybe I’d pay $50 for it, but even that’s a reach. Lotta great deals right now, I’d shop around.
