Purchased some new old stock Mavic 717 and saw this on the inside of the rim.
There is nothing visible on the outside however where the brake pads pinch the rim to brake.

Normal, the weld is ground on the inside.
This is perfectly normal
If it’s directly across from the valve hole, it’s where the rim extrusion was joined. Normal, even if this one looks like crap.
Looks like a cat face
It’s an effect of manufacturing. It’s welded and ground down. Other rims are just pinned. It’s not a defect.
