Hey y’all,
Was on a trip this weekend (a few hour drive each way) and had my bike on a hitch rack. I didn’t cinch anything down crazy tight or anything and had no issues on the way over but on my way back I heard a loud noise while driving on the freeway then pulled over and low and behold my enve rim had totally warped and tire was blown off.
My first thought was that the exhaust put too much heat on the rim/tire and melted it but the rack tire and rim were all cool, and I had been checking for this every time I stopped on the way over.
Anyone have any experiences like this? And does anyone have experience with enves warranty given this could be some sort of manufacturing issue. (The black stain on the tire is just sealant and I just wiped it off so definitely wasn’t melted or anything)
For what it’s worth I bought this bike used from a professional enduro gal, but I’ve been riding these hard with no inserts for the past 10 months no issues or even out of true.
TL;DR : Enve rim cracked/warped on a hitch rack despite being fine for several hours. If anyone has experience with this or with enves warranty process lmk what I should do!

Did you do a sliver of your own research here? The warranty applies to firsthand owners, you can find that out by googling “enve warranty” and not even need to click anything after that. Highly doubt they’ll cover it. You could ask nicely, some companies have still helped second hand owners out but don’t get your hopes up.
Mods need to start taking down posts like this.
To clarify: I have looked into the warranty and realize it may be difficult/not possible to get partial or any coverage for the rim. I’m Just trying to see if others have had similar experiences with rim failures like this and what they did following it.
If this specific part of the rim was being heated by your exhaust then I’d assume that weakened it. Begs the question: how low was you bike hanging or does your car have abnormally high exhaust tips?
