Decorative. Such things are sold as cafe locks. Ie use them to slow the thief for long enough for you to run over and ask them not to.

  2. I think they are called wire locks or coffee stop locks, their only purpose is to stop someome from simply picking your bike and drive away when you have to leave it for a short time. I find it extremely useful for bikepacking when you just stop at a store and want to grab a few Items. Or when you see your bike from far away but if someone take it, you wouldn’t be able to make on time, etc.

  3. One you cut with a pair of scissors.

Better have a ring lock mounted to the frame, they are pretty decent and very convenient to use.

  4. If you’re going to use this type of lock you should put it on the bottom part of the frame triangle on the rear wheel so people don’t see it until they try to take off on the bike and fall over.

Looks like a snowboard lock. I use one when I’m on my road bike. Only good if you stop for a coffee or something but better than nothing
