I’ve got a pretty clean hard rock ultra 18.5” frame and I’ve come to terms with it being too small for me (6’) – it is an absolutely blast to ride but just a bit too small and I’ve debated selling it but I’m not sure what a fair price would be.
It’ll have brand new 26×2.2 Maxxis holy rollers, new VO seat post, and some new one up composite flats. I’ll throw the original seat back on and keep the brooks.
I was thinking $220 just to recoup some of my cost. I’m in a good bike culture city.
OR – I continue to upgrade and build this bike out, and then do a frame swap once I find a 20” hardrock

Depending on how your local market is, you may be better off reinstalling the original parts and selling it that way – assuming they still function properly. Many would probably want to build it out themselves if they are buying it for a dead simple project. If a buyer doesn’t recognize the bike for what it is, they won’t likely appreciate the value of the new parts either.
For a bike that clean, and even though it’s a low end Specialized, it’s basically new old stock. Condition alone would merit a couple hundred IMO to the right buyer. It’s a turnkey project too with just enough work to do to make the build fun. Bars, tires, pedals, possibly cheap 1x conversion. It’s the perfect canvas for a first project.
P.S. How do you like the OneUp composites? I need to move away from an awful pair of Gen 1 Stamp 1 composites and have been eying these – but the convex nature of the pedal makes it seem like there would be less bite on the pins. What are your impressions so far?
