– Original WTB velociraptor tires were dry and replaced with Billy Bonkers.
– Original marin grips were removed safely & replaced with cork ergonomic ones. Super comfy !
– Metallic MTB pedals replaced with confortable resin platform pedals
– Brown saddle to complete the look instead of the black one i installed originally
– SKS Bluemels 60mm * 26inch to cope with the ginormous amount of rain we have here.
– Bell, rear light & U-lock to safely cruise around.
Kept the original STX 3*7 as recommended by you, and i love how practical and nobrain it is ! Plus i love the look of the STX34 rear derailleur.
Only thing i dont like are the Dia Compe Versa Control 747 brakes that are Vbrake levers with canti pads.. They get “untuned” (?) pretty easily. Looking to replace them with something that has sufficiently long arms to accommodate with the fenders. Either black or silver. Any recommendations?

I really like the 3×7 drivetrain on my Hardrock after I converted it to 3×8. No desire to switch to a 1x system.

Unsurprisingly I have found so many sweet steel frame Marin bikes on FB Marketplace and Craigslist in the north bay.
Too bad they ask north bay prices a lot of the time…
